A very green greenhouse

March 2, 2012

I couldn’t post just one picture from the Balboa Park Botanical Garden once I started looking through them again.  Enjoy this shot of the beautiful greenhouse itself.

Happy Friday!

Close up calla lily

March 1, 2012

San Diego’s Balboa Park Botanical Gardens has so many beautiful flowers and plants, all in one amazing greenhouse. Here’s one of my favorites – a bright yellow calla lily. And now that it’s March, we can think about flowers blooming again!

San Diego Auto Show

January 12, 2012

Over Thanksgiving, I took a break from eating turkey and stuffing to check out this great American Auto show in San Diego. There were so many cool cars I wish I still saw on the road, and some most definitly modernized with 21st century paint colors and technology.  Here’s a pretty neat look at some of the variety on display:

An odd looking plant

November 30, 2011

Check out this pretty remarkable looking plant, towering over the sidewalk and above the stop sign. I noticed that the base of the plant (the white flowers to the right of the picture) must be some pretty sweet flowers, since it there were a lot of bees on those flowers. I wasn’t until later that I realized I had captured one of the bees mid-flight!

Another great LA sign

April 28, 2011

LA is a great place for someone like me!  I love the retro sign for this bar in Venice, CA.

A flamingo in the desert

April 26, 2011

I’m not sure if all resorts in Palm Springs have flamingos on their property, but I love that they were on ours!  Flamingos are very social birds so they tend to stand together, which makes for especially nice pictures.

Neon on the beach

April 11, 2011

Very nice blue neon sign at this restaurant in Venice Beach, which also just happens to be the location of where some of my favorite ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ episodes from season 7 were filmed…

Wind farms galore!

April 1, 2011

Driving to Palm Springs from LA, you drive through a few major wind farms in the San Gorgonio Pass – one of the windiest places in Southern California.  From a car, it’s hard to really capture the thousands of wind turbines in the area, but it’s quite a sight to see.

Happy Friday!

A view of LA from atop

March 31, 2011

It’s hard to really see how big LA is when you’re in it, but from the top of Runyon Canyon, the views like this one give you a pretty good idea. The park is 160 acres in total, but we hiked along the main path for about an hour and had a pretty good workout!

Off to La La Land…

March 18, 2011

Well, the blog is going on Spring Break next week.  Time to head west for some fun in the sun (and heat in the desert), and cheer on my dad who is running the LA marathon again!

I’ll be back at the end of March, happy Friday!
