Pair of sandy feet

Some of you will hate this picture (no feet!), while others, well one blogger I know, seek out opportunities to take pictures of feet in front of famous landmarks.  I just like how this wonderful black sand looks against my skin, and how a great pedicure makes all the difference.

Black sand beach

Well I told you the proof would be coming at some point!  Here’s a picture of a beautiful black sand beach on the main island of Hawaii.  The sand doesn’t look it, but it was super soft and had almost a velvety feel to it… if only I were there right now!

Rocky coast

Another shot of Hawaii, this of the incredible beaches on the main island.  Right around the corner from the cliffs was a black sand beach… proof to come in a future post  : )

Stormy shadows

When I took this picture, I really wasn’t sure how it would turn out.  I knew I wanted to capture the remaining dramatic light, the rough ocean and the palm tress in the background, and I was hoping I could get enough light to make it work.  I think I came pretty close – and the blurriness almost adds some more drama to the scene!

Landscape like no other

Hawaii may be known for its sandy beaches and abundant sunshine, but there’s a lot more to it than that.  I went on a biking tour of the main island back in 2005 and saw a new side of Hawaii that included its incredible volcanic origins and very steep hills.  This landscape really does look like nothing I’ve ever seen before -
